Lone Star Cafe in Hillsboro

So I've been there quite a few times while doing work in town(travel around the State)...food is pretty dang good. Anything I've ordered has been great.Reason for the 4/5...the wait staff is not the normal smiling Texas-small-town friendly; they say enough to get ur order, check on ya, etc.Just dry..."Bubba don't like it!"

It's not bad. I had a club sandwich, the Turkey had the smoked flavor, which was good. I like the signs they had all over. Food was good. Mozzarella sticks were big and very good.

Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Visiting from Toronto and wanted a taste of Texas and the Lone Star Cafe did not disappoint.

Great Fajitas and Quesadillas. Good service in a cafe/bar atmosphere with very generous portions. When they say sizzling, they truly mean SIZZLING. The steak literally finished cooking at the table. Their guacamole is made fresh onsite and is fabulous. We will definitely return if we are in the area again.

First time we went there it was close to closing time. The waiter we had made it awesome. Didnt rush us excellent service. I'm sure he was ready to get home. I dont know if he was management/ owner or what. But he was excellent. We went yesterday. It was terrible staff didnt care if you needed anything made you wait. Food service was not good plate of food served wasnt appealing to say the least no rolls with dinners. It was just bad all the way around. So undecided whether to give it a try one more time.

A regular stop for us heading up and down 35 for a great chicken fried steak dinner! Hot gravy and biscuits and a big glass of tea! Bling Blinky of Texas Shout Out: Real Texas Sized servings!!

Alli was great. Food was fresh, the homemade French and ranch dressings we're fabulous. Baked potato was Texas sized. Restaurant was clean and very busy. We will be back. :)

Good food at a reasonable price. Their Bubba burger is my fave. They also have a bar and sometimes a live band.

Server was so nice and outgoing. Really clean. I would recommend going. Love this place.

This was the first time we've been here.. It was wonderful! Food was tasty and service was great! At first we thought it was taking a long time to get our food... but when it arrived we realized it was all cooked fresh!!! We will be returning:)

We drive far to eat here because the chicken fried steak is awesome. Prices are great too.

Good food every time we go. Service is not consistent. Sometimes the servers are very good and attentive. Other times not so much. Doesn't stop us from going. We just tip accordingly.

Enjoyed a Turkey Cobb Salad, it was as you expect out of a salad. Service was the best out of the five times I've been there. This place is one of the better places to eat in Hillsboro, but it wouldn't make it in any other city with decent competition. The food needs someone making it that cares about putting out good food. Although, they are in Hillsboro, so if you missed Burleson or Waco it is one of only a few options to get a sit down meal.

Food is very good, prompt in fixing a wrong order. Server, very friendly. Just watch your receipt, they charge a gratuity. Server missed out on $15 more in tips. We were 6 ppl at the same table but 3 different tickets. We could have dirtied up 3 stations but we decided to sit together.

I had great service. The steak was good and the prices were fair. The restaurant appeared to be clean. The bathrooms were well stocked. The finish on the tables and benches was in bad condition. This is the best place to eat I've found in Hillsboro so far.

The club sandwich with smoked bacon was delicious. The fries and onion rings were great too. Next time we are passing through town we will definitely stop.

Excellent! I had the chicken fried chicken with fries and mashed potatoes. It's was great, the service was also great! Glad we pulled off and stopped in for a bite.

We came here after looking at a house for sale AND because everything else was closed. We were very disappointed in the wait time. We got there at 12:25 and got our food at 1:10pm. We also sat at the bar because the dining room was full, Natalie was very busy but didn't seem happy almost annoyed with being there. Bad vibes. On top of that I Think the manager was sitting at the bar with a customer and didn't care to ask everyone how there meals were or how we were.

Good home cooked meal feeling. Welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff.

Stopped by here on our way back home and the food was delicious! I ordered the full order of bean and cheese nachos with chicken fajita and they were fantastic! The service was great as well with our server constantly checking on us to make sure our food and experience was great. The prices were very good as well. Would recommend stopping by here.

One of my best experiences here. I had the prime rib and it was delicious. All of the sides where cooked perfectly.

Probably one of the best spots to eat in Hillsboro. Let me warn you. While the Diablo Shrimp is delicious, some of them peppers will light you up!

Great service, food tasted great, big menu. We had the nachos and Bubbadillas (quesadillas). Cute place right behind the Taco Bell.

We just enjoyed the most wonderful dinner experience. The dinning areas ambiance was a comfortable temperature, peaceful and softly lit. Our server's name was Dana. She was young, professional and friendly, the type of server's which seem to be far and few between with today's youth. Our drinks were perfect and our appetizers were brought out to us promptly, hot and tasty. Our dinner orders followed out shortly after and the food was excellent, generous portions, fresh and well seasoned. The only one request we had was we would like to see fried green tomatoes added to their menu.

Great service, tons of selection and generous servings. The coleslaw was amazing!!! Tried catfish for the first time here and it was delicious.

Poorly seasoned food. Exspensive for absolutely no reason. All I had was a steak and baked potato, my stomach was hurting all day the next day.Service was ok but nothing to be happy about.

Atmosphere is really cute. We had lunch there passing through town on our way back to DFW. I had their chicken fried steak and it was pretty good. The staff was very friendly. Our waiter, Eric, was great.

Appetizers were good.. So were the fries.. But the chicken fried steak was terrible and they cooked the hell out of it.. Took 1 bite and gave it back.. Still got charged for it but oh well.. We might give it another shot.. Dont think they know what seasoning is either.. Pretty disappointed overall for our first and likely only visit..

Avocado tacos were delicious (homemade corn tortillas were a plus). Everything else was just sub par. Bartender was not rude but not friendly. Smelled funky when I first walked in. Would probably not go back.

Quick unplanned stop off. Getting off and on the highway is easy. Ribeye cooked to perfect and clean cut. Staff is very attentive and working hard to ensure customers are satisfied. Mushroom appetizers were a meal in themselves and super fresh not frozen. Wish I had taken a picture but food was so amazing I didn't have time to think. Just eat!

Delicious amazing food every single time we dine here at Lone Star Cafe!! We are lucky we live close and can stop in anytime. Friendly staff and great food!! The Pot Roast is AAAAAAAAAHMAZING!! My favorite of everything I have tried :) Great portion size! I almost always have leftovers!

I have eaten here on several occasions and the experiences have ranged from a 3 star to a 5 star. The wait times in any are low and there is plenty of seating available for waiting. The servers are friendly. There have been a few times in which the ticket times were more than 25 min but for the most part the orders are accurate. The prices are pretty fair. The gummy bear beverage is awesome! The main deficit is how long it takes to get alcohol if you aren't seated in the bar area.

The rib eye steak was on point! From the seasoning to the cook. It was delicious!!! Chicken fried steak & fries, also delicious! Kids cheeseburger smelled amazing! I’m assuming it was also delicious since my daughter asked for a second one.

Foods was really good. Our server, Abby, was great! Love the comfortable atmosphere.
